DISCOVER JACÓ

The town of JACÓ BEACH has a well-earned reputation for its many attractions, including bars and restaurants, beaches, parks and nature tours, surfing and other water sports, sport fishing, boat cruises and scuba diving expeditions, among others. A variety of tour operators can be found in town who are happy to arrange individual, family or group activities.

EXPLORE THE BEACHES

There are many nearby beaches, some exceptionally beautiful, such as the white-sand of Blanca  Beach and the grey sand of Mantas Beach, just a few miles north of Jacó. Or check out the marina at Playa Herradura, also just north of Jacó. Not far to the south of Jacó is the surfing of Hermosa Beach, and a bit further south are the wide, white-sand beaches of Esterillos.

SURF, DIVE, AND BOAT TO YOUR HEART’S CONTENT

Jacó is a world-famous surfing destination, hosting international competitions every year, and opportunities to practice or take up surfing abound. Local tour operators can set up boat cruises, sea kayaking, scuba diving, and sport fishing outings, as well as other activities.

CHECK OUT THE RESTAURANTS

Jacó has some 100 restaurants at this point – and the number is growing – offering a variety of everything from basic Costa Rican dishes to gourmet delicacies prepared by expert chefs. Many of the wine bars, sandwich shops, specialty restaurants, and supper clubs are located downtown along or just off the main strip. Some favorites include Los Amigos, with its burgers, wraps, Thai food, live music nights, and take-out, centrally located on the strip; Graffiti Restro Café & Wine Bar, a dinner option for those who like good food accompanied by signature martinis; Rustico, a popular surfer spot with typical Costa Rican fare served buffet-style; Pizza Shop, serving great thin-crust pizzas; Pajara Pinta, offering up vegetarian and gluten-free options; and the Green Room Café, with its local organic ingredients and locally made craft beer, just to name a few.

DO THE NIGHTLIFE

Jacó’s nightlife is world famous. Some of its cafes and restaurants offer drinks and live music at night, but there are many bars and lounges with music and (sometimes) dancing – such as Cocal Casino & Tiki Bar, Le Loft, Surf Dogs, Orange Pub, or Kokomos on the main strip, for example. Or you can check out a number of casinos, as well, or simply hang out in some of the upscale hotel lounges.

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN PARKS, NATURE, AND ADVENTURES

Jacó is well-situated for a variety of guided or self-guided tours to such attractions as Carara National Park, just minutes away by car, or private wildlife conservation projects, such as Neo Fauna. Day trips can also be made to more adventurous spots of interest to families and individuals alike, such as Ocean Ranch Park, which offers “eco adventure tours” with zip-lining, waterfall rappelling, horseback riding, and ATV trails.
